Who We Are

Our Purpose

Our Governance

At Allerton Allotments Society (AAS) our motto is
"A Growing Community" because that's exactly what we do and who we are. We are dedicated to helping unite gardening enthusiasts to cultivate a shared passion for growing plants, flowers and vegetables in a supportive environment. A copy of our Constitution and rules can be found here.

Our waiting list is open.

A list of Liverpool City Council Allotment Sites
may be found here stating availability or not.

We provide a welcoming space for both novice gardeners and seasoned horticulturists to share knowledge, exchange tips, and enjoy nature's beauty. Each member contributes to a thriving community, where sustainable practices are embraced and friendships flourish.

We are a Liverpool City Council Allotment Site and as such we are governed by the LCC Rules and Regulations as well as our own local Bye-laws. Copies of these are to be found below and members should familiarise themselves with them as they form part of their tenancy contract.

We are delighted that we were awarded the Association of Liverpool Allotments (ALA) "Best Allotment Site in Liverpool" in 2025. In addition to the best 5 plots, we had the highest total score for the best plots, our governance processes and support provided to plot holders. The judging criteria may change for 2026 but click this link to discover how the plots were scored and selected in 2025.

The Society Shop

The Big Shed is our communal meeting place and where we gather for a cuppa, a piece of cake and a chat. In the Winter there is a welcoming fire to keep us warm and cosy. This is where our Shop is located. When the flag is flying you know the Shed is open

Winter Opening Hours  (Nov-March)              Sunday 10.00 - 12.00 only
Summer Hours (April - October)    Wednesday 10.00 - 12.00                Sunday 10.00 - 12.00

The shop is stocked with items to make your growing experience a pleasant and productive one. There is a large selection to choose from including compost, fertilisers, bamboo canes to name just a few items. A full list of items for sale is available here but purchases can only be made in person at the BIg Shed during shop opening hours (see above). Payment may be made by card or cash (but no more than 10 coins in any transaction).

The Big Shed also houses our library which is a valuable resource of information on plants, propagation and cooking. The list of books and journals can be viewed by clicking the underscored links. Books may be loaned for a month free of charge. The Big Shed also houses our Seed Bank which consists of donated excess seed. As the seed is not always fresh, the viability may be reduced but nothing lost, nothing gained.

The Society is a member of the National Association of Allotments (NAS) and the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) both organisations are a fantastic source of information and ideas to help you get the most out of your plot and growing experience.

The internet hosts a bewildering range of sites offering advice for allotmenteers and a selection of our favourite ones can be accessed via this link
